THREE WAYS TO TIE A SQUARE SILK SCARF

I’ve written a few articles on how to tie scarves now, but it’s one of the most requested posts so I thought I’d share a few more of my scarf tying techniques with you!  And if you want to see some more, pop on over here, here and here.

Today I want to share 3 of my favorite ways to tie my silk square scarves.  These are large, (120cm X 120cm) so there’s a lot of fabric to play with which is a must in my book, I can’t bear it when a scarf is too piddly to do anything with!

If you like the look of skinny scarves then you’re going to love this method.

  1. Lay your square scarf on a flat surface and fold one of the corners into the center
  2. Repeat this with the opposite corner
  3. Fold the longest edges into the middle, one by one a until your scarf is about 2-3 inches wide
  4. Drape the skinny scarf around your neck and tie it loosely at the front.  Where you tie it is entirely up to you, but if you’re busty then I would suggest tying it under your bust rather than on top.

This is similar to the previous method, only we’re tying it slightly differently.

  1. Follow steps 1-3 from the method above
  2. Drape the scarf around your neck so that one side is longer than the other
  3. Grab the longest length, wrap it around your neck and bring it back round to the front.

This third method is a staple of mine, I wore scarves like this all the time while we lived in India as it was a great way to keep covered which was customary there.

  1. Fold your scarf in half so it forms a triangle
  2. Grab the corners of the longest side and tie them together to form a loop
  3. Put the loop over your head so the knot is behind your neck
  4. Pull the corner with the knot away from your neck and twist it once to form a second loop
  5. Put the new loop over your head and adjust the scarf so the point is in the center and the knot is on top
  6. Optional – if you’re not a fan of the knot on being on show, simply pull the point of the scarf over the top so it’s hidden
